Bone and Joint Decade in action

One  of  the  goals  of the International Bone and    Joint   Decade   is   to   enhance   the knowledge  about musculoskeletal disorders among  the  general  public  and  health care professionals alike. Some  means to achieve this end include:

producing   information   material: brochures,    press   releases   and    other publications. Link to the Finnish Materiaalit page.

public   lectures.   Finnish  lectures  are arranged  on  the  focus areas  of  the Bone 
and   Joint   Decade,   on   osteoarthrosis, osteoporosis    and   back    disorders.   The lecturers are the provincial instructors  of the Bone and Joint Decade:  health care nurses, physiotherapists  and  nurses.  The  lectures are   given    free   of   charge   and  advance registration is not needed.

events and campaigns, the main  events: The Bone and Joint Action Day on 11 October and The Bone and Joint Action Week,  12-20 October.

The  Bone  and  Joint  Action  Day  will  be implemented  as   co-operation   between  the field organisations of the Finnish Osteoporosis Association,   The     Finnish     Rheumatism Association    and    the    Finnish   Back Association.  In  2006  a  campaign organised mostly  in  grocery  stores reminded people of how it is  possible to promote the health of the musculoskeletal    system    during    daily activities. Musculoskeletal disorders can and should be prevented.
